Aunt Charlottes Candies

It was a perfect match, Charles Brooks Oakford, Sr. adored his Aunt Charlotte and he loved candy. And as they say...the rest is history.

Just about a century ago, Charles, with the help of his wife, Ruth, started their candy-making business on the family stove in Merchantville, New Jersey.

When he found the perfect formula, Charles sold those candies (delicious hand-wrapped caramels) direct from the front seat of his Model T Ford truck.

Soon Mr. Oakford, Sr.'s reputation as a chocolatier grew, and so did his business.

In 1945, upon passing of his father, Charles Brooks Oakford, Jr. and his lovely wife Bunny, continued the family tradition. Proudly following in their footsteps are third generation Oakfords; Randy Oakford and Penny Oakford Trost, joined now by fourth generation Ryan Trost, all with the same passion, vision and commitment, as it was almost a century ago.

From kitchen stove in 1920, to Aunt Charlotte's Candy Cottage on Centre Street, to its present location at 5 W. Maple Avenue, Aunt Charlotte's candies has grown into one of the finest purveyors of confections in America. Today Charles Oakford, Sr.'s slogan of long ago still stands, and there is indeed - a "Delight in Every Bite".
